After Mani Ratnam lauded Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for being ideal for the Ponniyin Selvan 2 movie, the actress couldn't help but fall at his feet. The PS2 crew had a press conference in Mumbai with the actor and the director present. Ratnam was asked whether he thought of Aishwarya as his lucky charm while at the occasion. The director said that he only approaches Aishwarya if he believes she would be a good match for the role, and she has always lived up to his expectations.
“A director is a very, extremely self-centered individual. Totally ruthless and self-centered. You are solely interested in the movie. No matter how much I adore her, I will only ask her if I believe she is a good fit for the part. Every time I've asked, she's been kind enough to say yes because I think she's perfect for the job. Therefore, it's not coincidence or good fortune; rather, only her ability and personality could depict this role, according to the director.
Aishwarya sprang up from her seat as soon as she heard him compliment her, asking for his blessings and expressing her appreciation for him.
For those who are unaware, Aishwarya has now collaborated with Mani Ratnam many times. They worked together on Iruvar in 1997 and again in 2007 for Guru. Before he cast her in Ponniyin Selvan 1, which was released last year, and Ponniyin Selvan 2, which will be released this weekend, they first worked together on Raavan in 2010 before meeting again.
The film Ponniyin Selvan, which stars Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, and Jayam Ravi, is an adaptation of the internationally renowned book Ponniyin Selvan (The Son of Ponni) by Kalki Krishnamurthy. Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sobhita Dhulipala are also featured in the movie. The technical team for the film includes AR Rahman, Sreekar Prasad, and Ravi Varman, who serve as the film's editor, cinematographer, and composer, respectively. On April 28, the next chapter of the film is expected to be released.
