<p>A multi-stakeholder body (MSB) that would serve as an advisory body to the proposed statutory authority and an independent statutory authority are two components that TRAI stated should make up the regulatory framework.</p>
<p>“Categorization of the AI use cases based on their risk and regulation according to broad principles of Responsible AI” is one of the framework’s other stated pillars.</p>
<p>It recommended the urgent establishment of an independent statutory body called the “Artificial Intelligence and Data Authority of India” (AIDAI) to ensure the responsible development of AI and the control of use cases in India.</p>
<p>According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), “there is an urgent need for the Government to adopt a regulatory framework that should be applicable across sectors to ensure the development of responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India.”</p>
<p>Determining the guiding principles of responsible AI and how they apply to use cases based on risk assessment is one of the tasks that might be delegated to AIDAI.</p>
<p>As part of its regulation-making duties, it would also make sure that the ethical AI principles are applied at every stage of the AI framework lifecycle, including design, development, validation, deployment, monitoring, and refinement.</p>
<p>Other aspects include creating a sample AI Governance Framework to help organizations implement AI responsibly and creating a sample Ethical Code to be adopted by public and private entities in various industries.</p>
