In the men’s doubles competition at the US Open, Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni both lost their respective opening-round matches, leaving just veteran Rohan Bopanna still in the running.

Hugo Nys and Jan Zielinski, the ninth-seeded Polish team, easily defeated Bhambri and his Brazilian partner Marcelo Demoliner 6-3, 7-5 in little under 83 minutes.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-155190″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-jyotiraditya-scindia-opens-the-utkela-airport-in-odisha-download-2023-09-01t172259.076.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com jyotiraditya scindia opens the utkela airport in odisha download 2023 09 01t172259.076″ width=”1084″ height=”570″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-jyotiraditya-scindia-opens-the-utkela-airport-in-odisha-download-2023-09-01t172259.076.jpg 310w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-jyotiraditya-scindia-opens-the-utkela-airport-in-odisha-download-2023-09-01t172259.076-150×79.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1084px) 100vw, 1084px” title=”US Open: Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni lose, but Rohan Bopanna triumphs 3″>

The Serbian Laslo Djere and the Swiss Marc-Andrea Huesler easily defeated Saketh Myneni and his Russian partner Alex Karatsev in the following two sets. The Swiss-Serb team prevailed 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, and 6-2. The game lasted for one hour and forty-four minutes.

While the victors were able to win three out of the five points in the second and third sets, respectively, Myneni and his Russian partner failed to capitalize on the one break-point chance they had during the whole match.

The Indo-Russian team also suffered from nine double faults and more than twice as many unforced mistakes (27) as the winners (13), which severely hurt their performance.

Bopanna and Ebden advanced to the second round after defeating Christopher O’Connell and Aleksandar Vukic 6-4, 6-2.

In the second round of the men’s doubles tournament, the sixth-seeded Indo-Australian team of Bopanna and Matthew Ebden will face the unseeded Kazakh team of Andrey Golubev and Russian Roman Safiullin.

In addition to winning the Qatar Open in February and the Indian Wells championship in March, the Rohan Bopanna-Matthew Ebden duo advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals back in July.

Bopanna and Aldila Sutijadi defeated Andreas Mies and Vera Zvonareva 7-5, 6-2, to advance to the second round of the mixed doubles competition.

In the second round, Giuliana Olmos and Tim Puetz, a German-Mexican duo, will face Bapanna and Sutijadi.

In the women’s singles qualifications, Ankita Raina was eliminated in the third round, Karman Kaur Thandi was eliminated in the first round, and Sumit Nagal was unable to get beyond the first round in the men’s qualifiers, hence there are no Indian singles players in the main draw of the 2023 US Open.
