The second-ranked Indian team fell to the 13th-seeded Indonesian team of Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Maulana Bagas in a match that lasted an hour and eight minutes. The scores were 17-21, 21-11, and 17-21.

India’s challenge was over after the pair’s defeat in the first round of the Super 1000 competition, as none of the country’s shuttlers made it through the first round.

The Indian team has been in excellent form this year, winning three championships—the Indonesia Open, their first Super 1000 title, the Swiss Open Super 300, and the Korea Open.

The Indian team got off to a strong start, winning the first game 21-17. However, the Indonesian team quickly recovered and won the second game 21-11, forcing a tiebreaker. The Indonesian duo refused to allow the Indian couple take the easy way out of the match, winning 21-17 on three match points.

The Indonesians have now beaten the Satwik-Chirag twice this year, having previously defeated the Indians in the pre-quarterfinals of the Thailand Open in June and the Malaysia Open in January.

The Malaysian team of Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei defeated the mixed doubles team of Sikki Reddy and Rohan Kapoor earlier in the day, losing 15-21, 16-21. They were eliminated from the competition.

On Tuesday, Malaysian Ng Tze Yong defeated world championship bronze medalist HS Prannoy in three games, 12-21, 21-13, and 18-21.

Lakshya Sen, the Commonwealth Games winner, was also ousted from the tournament in the first round after losing to Anders Antonsen of Denmark, who had just won the bronze medal at the world championships, 21-23, 21-16, and 9-21.

Ahead of the competition, top shuttlers PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth withdrew in order to focus on the forthcoming Asian Games.
