Temba Bavuma, the captain of South Africa, leaves for home and won’t be there for the World Cup warm-up games


<p>Temba Bavuma, the captain of South Africa, won’t be playing in either of their two exhibition games before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Bavuma has taken a flight to return to his family.</p>

<p>But according to reports, Bavuma will reunite with his colleagues in India before of their ODI World Cup opener against Sri Lanka on October 7 in New Delhi.</p>
<p>This month, the 33-year-old has already had minor injuries. He played in the second and third games despite developing a hamstring ache after the first ODI against Australia, during which he struck a century.</p>
<p>He was forced to sit out of the fourth ODI due to a thigh muscle complaint, but he was cleared to play in the fifth and final game, when he was removed for a duck.</p>
<p>Anrich Nortje, South Africa’s premier pacer, was forced to withdraw from the competition when it was discovered that he may have a stress fracture in his back. Sisanda Malaga, who has a knee ailment, is also unable to participate in the main event.</p>
<p>As their replacements, Andile Phehlukwayo and Lizaad Williams were picked.</p>
<p>On September 25, the squad, under the leadership of Bavuma, arrived in India.</p>
<p>Australia, the five-time ODI world champions, played South Africa at home in a five-match series before to the world cup.</p>
<p>The Proteas lost an early 2-0 lead but came back strongly to win the following three straight games and the series 3-2.</p>
<p>Temba Bavuma will captain the South Africa team in the ODI World Cup, along with Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen, and Lizad Williams.</p>
