By Diwali 2023, Airfares From Mumbai to the North Will Reach New Heights

Travelers are having to shell out a lot of cash this Diwali due to the skyrocketing cost of nonstop flights from Mumbai to northern regions.

The exorbitant cost of travel to northern states like Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand has left travelers with little alternative but to pay hefty amounts for their holiday travels.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-263702″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-on-anees-bazmees-birthday-did-kartik-aaryan-reveal-anything-about-bhool-bhulaiyaa-.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com on anees bazmees birthday did kartik aaryan reveal anything about bhool bhulaiyaa” width=”1065″ height=”795″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-on-anees-bazmees-birthday-did-kartik-aaryan-reveal-anything-about-bhool-bhulaiyaa-.jpg 260w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-on-anees-bazmees-birthday-did-kartik-aaryan-reveal-anything-about-bhool-bhulaiyaa–150×112.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1065px) 100vw, 1065px” title=”By Diwali 2023, Airfares From Mumbai to the North Will Reach New Heights 6″>

The most expensive travel destinations are now Ranchi and Raipur, where roundtrip tickets from Mumbai may reach an incredible Rs 40,000 in the later part of October. Passengers are paying more over Rs 30,000 for travels even to towns like Prayagraj, Patna, Lucknow, Gaya, Darbhanga, and Agra.

Conversely, as Diwali draws nearer, tourists visiting well-known southern towns like Goa, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, and Hyderabad are finding more affordable choices, with roundtrip tickets remaining around Rs 10,000.

The law of supply and demand explains this glaring disparity in price. There are fewer flights from Mumbai to the north than there are from southern towns, and this lack of flights was a dead giveaway that the rates for Diwali to the north would be more expensive. In context, the lowest return ticket for Diwali travel on nonstop flights from Mumbai to Patna was Rs 35,000 on September 1, but it is now just Rs 33,000.

The most cost-effective alternative for those traveling north would be to choose a trip that has a stopover in Delhi. Transit flights to northern locations are often 40–50% less expensive than non-stop choices since most airlines, even those located in Mumbai, utilize Delhi as a hub. This is particularly true during the busiest travel season.

The top three metro-to-non-metro domestic flight routes during Diwali in terms of bookings were Delhi to Lucknow, Mumbai to Patna, and Chennai to Kolkata, according to Gaurav Patwari, VP of Cleartrip’s air category. He said that domestic travel reservations for Diwali had increased significantly this year, up around 28.4% from the prior year. In addition, there has been a noticeable 16.6% rise in demand for flights from Mumbai during Diwali in comparison to the previous year.
