Government Will Open Digital India FutureLABS & Semiconductor Research Center Soon: MoS Chandrasekhar

<p>Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, Electronics, and Information Technology, stated on Friday that the Center would shortly launch the Digital India futureLABS project and build the India Semiconductor Research Center.</p>

<p>During his virtual speech at the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) Vision Summit in Bengaluru, the minister made the news. Chandrasekhar said, “We are going to open the India Semiconductor Research Centre soon. It will act as a center for semiconductor innovation across all spectrums that will power future systems.”</p>
<p>The India Semiconductor R&D Committee, a group made up of government representatives, business leaders, and academics, submitted a thorough report late last year. Following this, the IT Ministry announced intentions to open the “Bharat Semiconductor Research Centre” in 2024. The statement described a cooperative endeavor between academics and industry professionals, with the research center to be established via a public-private partnership (PPP).</p>
<p>Simultaneously, Chandrasekhar emphasized that this firm would act as a cornerstone institution in India’s growing semiconductor competency. It is positioned to be India’s answer to internationally recognized organizations like the MIT Microelectronics Lab, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), and the nano-electronics R&D center IMEC, all of which have led the way in introducing cutting-edge technology around the globe.</p>
<p>In addition, the minister said during the IESA event that “We will be launching our upcoming program called Digital India futureLABS very soon.” Government laboratories, Indian start-ups, major companies, and the electronics industry will all work together on this effort. Along with automotive industrial platforms and tier-1 suppliers, it will concentrate on developing and inventing systems for the future.</p>
<p>Digital India futureLABS is an effort that aims to develop the electronics and IT industry in India by establishing a framework for research and innovation and supporting leadership in standards, intellectual properties (IPs), systems, and platforms. The focus is on developing technical breakthroughs, encouraging sustainable development, and strengthening the homegrown innovation ecosystem via cooperative efforts.</p>
<p>The futureLABS will concentrate on important industries including automotive, mobility, computing, communication, strategic electronics, and industrial IoT. C-DAC will serve as the core coordinating agency for the initiative. In order to jointly pioneer the creation of systems, standards, and intellectual property cores, it will enable collaborations between startups, multinational corporations (MNCs), research and development (R&D) organizations, and academia.</p>
<p>In addition, Chandrasekhar emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goals and strategy for developing the ecosystem for electronics manufacturing. The minister noted the rapid rise of start-ups, unicorns, and large investments when considering India’s achievements in creating a robust innovation ecosystem, notably in the consumer internet sector.</p>
<p>With a strong emphasis on deep tech efforts, such as the extension of the semiconductor ecosystem, he explained the natural expansion of this ecosystem.</p>
<p>As a rational extension of our innovation environment and a reinvention of our country’s goals, we have turned to our Prime Minister, who has put in place the necessary infrastructure and financial support to grow our semiconductor ecosystem.</p>
<p>With the help of this deep tech project, governments, businesses, and consumers throughout the globe will be able to satisfy the performance demands of more digitalized systems in the future. He said that the emphasis encompasses all areas, including computer, industrial, automotive, wireless communications, Internet of Things, and strategic technologies.</p>
