As it continues its journey in the Indian automotive sector, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has achieved a noteworthy milestone with the Fronx crossover SUV.

According to a report from Gaadiwaadi.com, the Fronx, which was introduced in April 2023, has sold one lakh units, making it one of the fastest-selling models in the nation.

However, the Indian manufacturer is considering rearranging the Fronx variations as a calculated move to strengthen its market position.

SUCCESS IN SALES AND MILESTONE ACHIEVERS:
Strong sales numbers for the Fronx indicate that it has swiftly established itself as a popular among Indian motorists.

With its recent sales topping one lakh, the crossover SUV has solidified its standing as a preferred option in the home market.

The Fronx’s many powertrain choices, which include a powerful 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine, a Bi-Fuel CNG version, and a 1.2-liter K12C petrol engine, are responsible for Maruti Suzuki’s success with the vehicle.

variation REJIG FOR AFFORDABILITY: The Fronx Turbo variation has struggled with sales despite its popularity because of its higher price compared to its standard petrol sibling.

Its expensive price is partly explained by the fact that the turbocharged engine is now limited to the mid-spec Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha trims.

Maruti Suzuki is now thinking about a strategic variation rearrangement in response to market circumstances, with the goal of lowering the price of the 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine.

MARKET SHARE ANALYSIS: The 1.2-liter standard petrol engine currently accounts for the bulk of Fronx sales, with the 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine and the Bi-Fuel CNG version coming in second and third, with 16 and 7 percent, respectively.

In keeping with Maruti Suzuki’s original sales goal of 25–30 percent, the decision to transfer the powerful 1.0-liter engine to the entry-level Sigma trim is likely to make it more accessible to a wider client base.

Future prospects and customer requests have prompted discussion of the 1.2-liter K12C petrol engine’s availability with top-spec trims (Zeta and Alpha).

It is unclear how Maruti Suzuki would react to these requests.

It’s important to note that the Turbo engine is made in India, and the company’s significant localization expenditures demonstrate their dedication to recovering the costs of their original investment.
