According to reports from two prominent Sikhs, Paramjit Singh Sarna and Manjit Singh GK, their official verified Facebook sites have been removed with no explanation. Both are members of the SAD headed by Sukhbir Badal and were formerly presidents of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. Sarna is in charge of the party’s Delhi branch.

GK claimed to have sent a letter to Facebook’s parent company, Meta, protesting the removal of his official, verified page. “I have discovered that my verified and official Facebook page, @manjitsinghgk, was abruptly removed by Facebook without any explanation,” the letter said. He said, “This seems to be an obvious attempt to silence me on issues related to Punjab, Punjabi, and Sikh issues.”

With more than 250,000 followers, GK continued, “The abrupt deactivation of the Facebook page not only infringes upon my freedom of speech but also undermines the democratic principles enshrined in our Constitution.”

“Our page, which has been blue tick verified and has been in existence for a considerable period of time, plays a crucial role in connecting with our audience and disseminating important information,” Sarna said in his objection to Meta. We are perplexed by the abrupt shutdown since we are not aware of any infractions or potential causes for such action.
