Rani Mukerji Remembers Aditya Chopra’s Husband’s Difficult Period Before “Pathaan” Arrived and Revolutionized YRF

Online, remarks made by Rani Mukerji have become quite popular. The actress recently discussed how her husband, director Aditya Chopra, dealt with the shift in watching patterns during the epidemic following a string of setbacks. Rani brought up her husband and the renowned production company that the family controls, YRF, when she was in attendance at FICCI Frames 2024. She recalls seeing Aditya, in spite of many offers from OTT platforms, have blind confidence in his films and wait for their release after the COVID shutdown.

The well-known performer, who won critical praise for her role in the movie “Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway” the previous year, emphasized the significant change in public acceptance and taste at the box office. She discussed “Pathaan,” which had an extraordinary reception at the ticket booth when it was released in January of last year. The actor said that YRF finally saw itself emerge from its protracted downward spiral of failures with the Shah Rukh Khan film. “Adi [Aditya Chopra] had these big films waiting to be released, but they were stalled because of the pandemic,” the woman said. Filmmakers were under intense pressure to distribute their works on over-the-top platforms, and the films needed to recoup their production costs.

Rani said that she saw her husband being composed despite all of the chaos and continuing to have trust in the films he had supported. “My spouse seemed collected and at ease. He said, “I’ll release these movies in theaters because we made them for audiences to enjoy.” OTT made a generous offer to him, but he made the courageous decision to hold off. All of these movies were bombed when they were released! Overnight, there was a shift in the way the public saw information related to the epidemic, according to her.

Rani continued by praising God for bringing “Pathaan” to fruition at last. It was evidence, she continued, that God provides abundantly when He gives. Since all of his movies bombed at the box office and caused severe financial setbacks, everyone was depressed. We believed that Adi would be rewarded for his belief in theatrical film releases and that he would get some kind of heavenly intervention, but that didn’t materialize. We tried everything before Pathaan, but nothing worked. That movie altered the course of Yash Raj’s production. God provides abundantly when he gives (Bhagwaan jab deta hai chappad faad ke deta hai)! He only puts your bravery to the test. “I applaud Adi for having that courage,” she said.

With a staggering global box office receipt of more than Rs 1000 crore, Pathaan is among the highest-grossing Bollywood films ever. It marked SRK’s big-screen return five years after Zero’s 2018 box office collapse.
